About

The tool I always wanted to use.

Ckvens wasn't designed in an incubator. It was built in the middle of real legal work — by a lawyer who finally built the tool he'd always wanted to use.

Our story

Built in the middle of real legal work.

Ckvens didn't begin as a business idea. It began as a frustration — and a lawyer who couldn't find the tool he needed.

I couldn't find the tool, so I built it

As a practicing lawyer, I spent years on complex cases — thousands of pages, countless documents, events spread across months or years. Yet the tools forced me to work in disconnected documents, spreadsheets, notes and folders. The ones that did exist were too complex, too expensive, or both. I looked for a simple timeline tool that could become the center of my work. I couldn't find one. So I built it.

The timeline became the case

The first version of Ckvens was nothing more than a timeline, built around one question: what actually happened, and when? Very quickly, something became obvious. Once every event was connected to documents, people and evidence, the timeline became much more than a chronology — it became the structure of the entire case. That changed everything.

A different question about AI

Instead of building another AI chatbot, we started asking a different question: how can AI help lawyers throughout an ordinary working day? Every feature is built from that perspective — not because AI makes it possible, but because it makes the lawyer's work easier. The test is always the same: Is it useful? Is it necessary? Is it intuitive? If yes, we build it. If not, we don't.

Built for ordinary days

Today, Ckvens is more than a timeline. It's a workspace where AI helps lawyers organize facts, understand evidence, identify missing information, discuss strategy, draft arguments and keep track of the entire case — always with the timeline as its foundation. It wasn't designed in an incubator. It was built in the middle of real legal work. Our ambition isn't to solve one spectacular problem. It's to become the workspace lawyers never want to leave.

An effort of
collaboration

Ckvens was conceived by Norwegian lawyer Tormod Tingstad. Tormod has spent more than 30 years in the legal industry — from in-house roles to management and litigation.

He is currently a partner at the law firm Elden in Oslo, acting as defense counsel in large-scale white-collar crime cases. Tired of searching for the right tool to structure complex matters, he created Ckvens.
